The discovery
This discovery consists of a self-regulation of the Cardiovascular System by the natural and spontaneous production of a dynamic stenosis in the inferior vena cava (IVC) allowing regulation of the venous return and, consequently, regulation of the blood load to be handled by the failing heart. The low prevalence of 0.5% of this natural model made it necessary to design an artificial model that would simulate the beneficial effect of intermittent dynamic regulation of the venous return guided by the patient’s respiratory phase.
CHF has a prevalence of 2% of the global population reaching 12.5% in people aged 65 and over constituting a representative expense for the Health System and a reduction in the quality of life of the patient.
